High-Level Roundtable on Digital Government

Convening under the timely theme How 21st Century Technologies Can Drive Innovation in Europe’s Public Services, this high-level roundtable brought together senior leaders from across Europe with responsibility for the digitalisation of government. Robert Madelin, director-general of DG information society and media at the European Commission, gave the keynote address in which he highlighted the key features of the Digital Agenda 2020 framework and reviewed the potential implications for EU member states. In interactive working groups, participants compared and shared best practices on digital government in, inter alia, Albania, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Visho Ajazi Lika, deputy minister for innovation, information and communication technology, Albania; Mike Bracken, executive director of digital for Government, Cabinet Office, United Kingdom; Tone Bringedal, head of department, Difi, Norway; and Jérôme Filippini, director and deputy secretary-general to the Government, France, delivered special presentations.
