European Reforms Summit: Euro Plus Monitor Launch

The Lisbon Council and Berenberg launched The Euro Plus Monitor September 2017 Update: The Next Stage, the latest edition of the leading economic adjustment ranking, at the Berenberg Conference on European Reforms. Klaus Regling, managing director of the European Stability Mechanism, led a star-studded line up of economic luminaries on hand for the launch. Riccardo Barbieri, chief economist of the Italian Tesoro; John Peet, political editor at The Economist; Alain de Serres, head of structural policies surveillance division at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); Lúcio Vinhas de Souza, head of the economics team at the European Commission’s European Political Strategy Centre; and Charles Wyplosz, professor of international economics at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, also joined a wide-ranging debate on the outlook for the eurozone and the future of reform. Holger Schmieding, chief economist at Berenberg and principal author of The Euro Plus Monitor September 2017 Update, keynoted, taking participants through the fascinating findings of this year’s study, which intellectually underpinned the day-long conference.
