Under the leadership of Andrus Ansip, vice-president of the European Commission and European commissioner for the digital single market, the Working Group on Digital Entrepreneurship of the United Nations Broadband Commission on Sustainable Development met in Kigali, Rwanda to discuss new targets and new initiatives for using digital technology to develop better, more effective, more inclusive strategies for promoting entrepreneurship in the developing world. The discussion was informed by a working draft of the Report of the Working Group on Digital Entrepreneurship to the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development, which was drafted through intensive consultations among Broadband Commission members and advisers led by Vice-President Ansip in collaboration with the Lisbon Council. Deputy Director Luukas K. Ilves and Senior Director Stéphanie Lepczynski joined the Kigali working group, which brought together many of the commissioners and advisers for a two-day brainstorming in the margins of the Annual Spring Meeting of the Broadband Commission. The meeting of the Broadband Commission was chaired by Paul Kagame, president of Rwanda. The final report will be launched at the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2018.
