How can the public sector move towards deriving better value – and delivering better services – from advanced analytics of the data it collects? As part of Big Policy Canvas project, the Lisbon Council set out with three partners to map the needs of public administration – and create a roadmap for tackling big societal challenges through data-driven approaches. The final study was Roadmap for Future Research Directions in Data-Driven Policy Making. This unique exercise encompassed three main steps: identification of gaps that hinder the rapid and effective uptake of data-driven policies; elaboration of future research challenges and application scenarios related to the use of analytics in policymaking; and devising a set of practical recommendations for all stakeholders. Other consortium members include ATOS, the National Technical University of Athens and the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems. The project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 769623.
