Financial and administrative officer

The Lisbon Council for Economic Competitiveness and Social Renewal asbl is a Brussels-based think tank and policy network. Established in 2003 in Belgium as a non-profit, non-partisan association, the group is dedicated to making a positive contribution to public debate through cutting-edge research and by engaging citizens and leaders in a constructive dialogue about the economic and social challenges of the 21st century.

The Lisbon Council for Economic Competitiveness and Social Renewal asbl is looking for a full time financial and administrative officer based in Brussels and reporting to the president and director of research. The main goal of this position is ensuring proper management and compliance with financial obligations in collaboration with the accountants and the auditor.

More specifically:

  • Ensure compliance with the reporting requirements of funding from the European Union, including timesheets and expenses;
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to management;
  • Provide administrative support for tenders and projects by the European Union;
  • Collaborate with the department of human resources on administrative tasks related to personnel;
  • Maintain records and databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality;
  • Assist in maintaining legal and regulatory documentation;
  • Process invoices, expense reports and reimbursements and serve as the primary point of contact for office suppliers;
  • Monitor and manage petty cash and office expenses;
  • Assist in budget preparation and tracking and collaborate with senior management to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the financial management of projects funded by the European Union and of Belgian tax system;
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic international environment and interacting with high-level professionals;
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Five-years experience;
  • Ability to work independently with discretion and initiative;
  • Strong team player with excellent prioritisation experience skills;
  • Flexible, hands-on approach to tasks;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficiency in English (native speaker or equivalent) and good understanding of French.
