While he cannot be replaced, the Lisbon Council is committed to ensuring that his vision and legacy continue to guide its path forward.

To carry on his work, the Board of the Lisbon Council appoints Director of Research David Osimo as its new executive director. With a deep connection to the Lisbon Council’s history and to Paul Hofheinz’s vision, Mr Osimo brings not only institutional knowledge but also the imagination and leadership needed to guide the organisation into its next chapter.

In his new role, David Osimo will oversee the organisation’s strategic direction, lead the research activity, expand its impact and ensure long-term financial sustainability. In David’s words: “Paul’s irreplaceable legacy includes a top-tier team and a committed community. Together, we will continue delivering his vision.”

DescriptionTjark de Lange, treasurer and co-founder of the Lisbon Council, will now also serve as president to further uphold Paul’s vision, ensure continuity and support the organisation through this transition. “Even in our sorrow, the Lisbon Council is unwavering in its resolve to carry forward Paul’s passionate work promoting sustainable economic growth, innovation and European competitiveness,” said Tjark de Lange.

Ann Mettler, co-founder of the Lisbon Council, adds: “I couldn’t think of a better leadership duo for the Lisbon Council than David Osimo and Tjark de Lange. David will do a great job managing the organisation with his more than twenty-five years of experience working at the intersection of technology, innovation and science. His European credentials are impeccable. At the supervisory level, Tjark – an experienced and successful entrepreneur – is uniquely suited to lead the Board and provide strategic advice and guidance. As a fellow co-founder, Tjark has been an integral part of the Lisbon Council from the earliest days and will, therefore, ensure both continuity and preparedness for the future. Together, they will undoubtedly take Europe’s premier knowledge economy think tank to its next level of excellence and impact.”
