Power to the People: Scaling Energy Communities by Removing Friction

Power to the People: Scaling Energy Communities by Removing Friction

The Lisbon Council launched Power to the People: Scaling Energy Communities by Removing Friction, a new policy brief that challenges the idea that energy communities can scale through enthusiasm and local engagement alone. Building on insights from the European Distributed Data Infrastructure for Energy (EDDIE) project, the policy brief sets a different path: one based on low-friction digital services, interoperable energy data infrastructure and solidarity-by-design models to make community energy easier to join, easier to manage and more inclusive for renters, low-income households and vulnerable groups.
