Katarzyna Szkuta

Dr Katarzyna Szkuta is the director of strategy at The Lisbon Council. A seasoned expert on innovation, digital and gender policies, Dr Szkuta has led research and innovation initiatives at both European and national levels. Previously, she served as European and international affairs advisor to the Belgian junior Minister for Gender Equality, Equal Opportunities and Diversity and at the Polish Permanent Representation to the European Union. Notably, she played a leading role in shaping equality policy for both the Belgian and Polish Presidencies of the Council of the European Union. Her experience also spans policy work at the directorate-general for research and innovation and the joint research centre of the European Commission as well as the European Commission’s internal research institute. She holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Warsaw and a master’s degree in sociology and linguistics.
