Productivity and Digitalisation in Europe

“Productivity growth is the key to returning to a sustainable growth path in Europe.” So writes Bart van Ark, author of Productivity and Digitalisation in Europe: Paving the Road to Faster Growth, a new policy brief published by the Lisbon Council and The Conference Board, one of the world’s leading business and research associations, which produces some of the most widely watched business indicators. Dr van Ark, a Dutch national who serves as executive vice-president, chief economist and chief strategy officer of The Conference Board and is a world-renowned expert on productivity, focuses on Europe’s digital single market as a major driver of productivity and job creation – and delivers a seven-point programme for restoring sustainable growth. The policy brief is published by The Conference Board and the Centre for Innovation Economics, a multi-disciplinary centre managed by the Lisbon Council. It was launched in Brussels at The Europe 2020 Summit in the presence of José Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission, and Neelie Kroes, vice-president of the European Commission.
