The Lisbon Council launched More Environmental Protection, Less Reporting Burden: How a Scale-Up Regtech Initiative Can Lower Compliance Costs for Companies and Increase the Effectiveness of Regulations, a new policy brief that challenges the idea that exempting more companies and delaying deadlines in the climate and digital domains is the only path to simplification. Building on the lesson learnt from banking regulation, the policy brief sets a different path: one based on digital-ready policymaking and regulatory technology (regtech) to reduce compliance costs while driving growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises.
